HELSINKI TO TARTU 

This post is designed for those of you are planning to move from Helsinki to Tartu. Obviously, if are living in Helsinki for some time you know some parts better than me. However, i am going to provide details how to reach Tartu from Helsinki.
 
First, there are different ways to move from Helsinki to Tartu. I am describing one possible way:

Step:1 Helsinki Center(Kamppi) to harbor

Helsinki harbor is sparsely distributed in different parts of the city. Thus according to your transport line the harbor will be different. Look at http://www.ytv.fi/eng to reach the specific harbor from your residence.

Steps 2: Helsinki Port to Tallin Sea Port


Move from Helsinki to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia using ships. There are different lines operating between Tallinn and Helsinki such as,

i) Viking Line which operates two times a day from Helsinki to Tallinn is a good choice of move. The fare is usually 20 Euros. However, if you are Viking Line club member, you can get tickets cheaper than usual price. The journey usually takes two and half hour. Viking line departs from Katajanokka terminal in Helsinki and arrives at Reisisadam terminal in Tallinn. For more accurate and details information, visit

ii) Tallink which usually operates two hour interval during day between Helsinki and Tallinn is another good option. The ticket price is usually around 25 Euros. For those who want time flexibility this a good choice. Tallink ships for Tallinn operates from West Terminal (Länsiterminaali) in Helsinki and D-terminal, Uus-Sadam in Tallinn.

iii) Linda Line is one of the fastest ways to move from Helsinki to Tallinn. It takes around one and half hour and the ships are quite frequent. Linda Line vessels depart in Helsinki from Makasiini terminal, South Port and in Tallinn from Linnahalli port. The fare is usually between 20-30 Euros. Step 3: Tallinn port to Tallinn Center

From Tallinn port to Tallinn City center is 20 minutes walking distance. You can also use Bus no. 2 to reach City center from port. In bus, it takes around 10 minutes to reach City center. One way bus ticket from bus driver costs 20 EEK. Tickets are less costly if you buy it from kiosk. Remember to validate the ticket in bus. Step 4: Tallinn Inter City Bus stop 

You need to come Autobussijam bus stop using bus no 2 from harbor to reach Inter City bus terminal

Tartu bound bus leaves from this stoppage. It takes around two and half hours from Tallinn to Tartu. The ticket price is around 150 EEK. For students, there are some discounts available. Step 4: In Tartu

Tartu is a university town and a city of youth! Tartu is a modern city with a rich historical heritage and culture. Everything within Tartu town is within walking distance.

Tartu bus station is located at 2 Turu, Tartu, 51014, 51014, Estonia‎

For a new student, the first job is to go to housing office, sign the housing contact and collect the room keys. Tartu housing office is located at Narva mnt 25, Tartu, Estonia.
