Login
TopNSM is one of OtaSizzle services. If you already have an account in OtaSizzle service, you can directly perform the login through Central Authentication Service(CAS). In addition, you can also use old login link in the bottom of the page to login into the service. There is a simple authentication system for Mobile users. Login provides access all system services.
You also need to agree with the terms and conditions, if you are a first time user of the service.
Forgot Password
TopProvide your registered email address in the Forgot password box. The system will sent an email containing password changing instruction to your email address within a short time.
Registration
TopA new OtaSizzle user requires registration to the service. During registration, you need to provide an username, password and an email address.
Computer View
TopComputer View provides nice look and feel for computer browser.
Mobile View
TopMobile view provides optimized look and feel for Mobile browser. Tested with Nokia N95 browswer.
Status Message
TopLet the world know your current status. May be you are busy in meeting or watching game - let your frinds know you are doing.
Forum
TopForum is usually for students to share opinions, ask questions, and also gain some useful information.
Basic Structure
TopForum has 3 levels, University level, Category level and Post level.
University
TopIf you have enough access level, you could create/edit/delete a university and also give a short introduction to this university. Title is mandatory. One university could have multiple categories.
Category
TopUniversity level contains several Category Levels. If you have enough access level, you could create create/edit/delete multiple categories and also give short descriptions to categories. Title is mandatory. In addition, every category has one 'Essence' for its own. Essence works like a shared posting wall for all users. One category could have multiple posts.
Post
TopEach Category contains Post messages. Post includes basic forum functions such as creating a new post, editing post and reply of an existing post. Title is mandatory for creating a post or replying a post.
For Post, we have the following amazing features.
Integration of Map Tag and Post
TopWhen creating a post or replying a post, user can tag multiple places on the Google map which makes the post more user friendly.
When creating, editing a post or replying a post by advanced reply, there is one button above the "submit", named "Tag Map". When you click it, a google map will be shown there. You can simply click on the position where you want to tag, and a window will pop up. You can specify location and description as you wish. After submitting the post, user could also edit post with adding or deleting map tags.
You could also delete either the newly tagged map tags or formerly tagged map tags on the maps.
Besides, you could give a image url to the tag so that the tag will be shown by this image on the map.
Currently, user could only tag 3 positions once. If you want to tag more, you could first submit it and then edit your post to tag more positions.
During post viewing, user could click "show this post with map" to view it with map tags. You can also choose to view the tags only with this post or view the tags all of this post and its replies. However, you cannot add tag during viewing a post. but
This function is also supported on most current mobile browsers.
Rich Text Editor
TopOur service provides a rich content editor (TinyMCE) for writing content.
You could choose 'None' (without rich text editor). 'Simple', 'Medium' and 'Advance' text editor. The default is 'None'.
For example, user could change font size, weight, style, insert pictures with url, add links, add flash url and so on. Please have a try of this cool text editor. :)
However, unfortunately the rich text editor is not supported on mobile browsers. Therefore, mobile user could just post content by plain text editor.
Essence Function
TopThe main objective of Essence is to create a shared wall for all users under each category. When creating a post, you could specify it to be added with the Essence of the current category. When you submit the post, it will be automatically appended to the Essence with title (with a link to the post), author, content and link to map tags (if any).
This function is especially easy to announce something important and share useful information to other users.
Priority Post
TopPriority post is different from normal Post. Only Admins can add priority post. Normal user cannot post a priority post. Admin could post a priority post and could edit other normal user's post to be a priority post.
Priority post will appear at the top of all posts for each category and with bold fonts.
Users
TopShow all users of NSM service.
Map
topYou have to register and login to use the full Map function, a guest can only view the map but have no right to add and delete anything.
Add a tag: after login, just click the position on the map where you want to add a tag, a popup window will show. Just fill in the location and description and click save, a new tag will be added on the map
Give your tag a special icon: when you add the tag, specify a valid url of a special picure, it will be used as the icon of the tag
Delete a tag: if you are the author of the tag or you are the system admin, when you click on the tag, you can use the delete button there to delete it.
The tag records: the tags on the map are associated with the categories and posts in the forum. They are sorted and listed under the map. Click the link on location, the corresponding tag will be switched to the centre of the map the and information window will automatically show up; If the tag is associated with some post, there will be a link to the post, you can use that link to view the post directly.
Friends
TopShow your friends in NSM service. You can add friend from Users list, Remove friend from your existing friend list. You can also view your friend's friend. When one sends a friend request, the request will be shown in your Request folder. When you accept the request, you will become friend with the other person.
Message box
Top
One can send message to other person in the NSM service. Depending on the receiver's email setting, the message can also be sent to the email address of the recipient.
In message inbox, you can view the received messages and sent messages. You can also reply to a message.
Profile
TopProfile provides useful information for a person. In profile, you can upload your avatar, update personal information such as study track, and personal website address. In profile, you can also upload Facebook badge which let others to link with your Facebook profile. It is always a good idea to update the current information in profile.
Search
TopYou could search Posts Content, Map Tags, and Users.
Search Post
Top(For computer view, its on the up right part, for mobile view, it is at the bottom).
You can type simple keywords and it will search all the posts for you. If you want a advanced search, you can specify university, category, author_username, searching all posts, main posts or reply only, and with map tagged only in the advanced search functions. You don't need to specify all these things when using the advanced search. For instance, you could just specify the university and keywords, and it will return search results.
The search results will show according to the order of university name, category name and update time, which is convenient for you to find a latest post within a university and category.
Search Map Tags
TopThe website provides you with a map search function. (For computer view, please click on "MAP" on the top navigation link. For mobile view, please click the earth image on the top navigation link.)
You could search the map with keywords by either use basic or advanced search and change between basic and advanced search easily by simply clicking the related to the links. For the advanced search, again user could specify university, category and author username to search the for a post.
If you do not input a keyword, the search result will be all the map tags with the given conditons. For instance, if you just specify "TKK" university and do not input a keyword, the search results will be all the map tags in TKK categories.
In addition, the search results will have two links, if you click the location, the Google map switch to that tag and pop up a frame with its location and description. If you click "Go to post", it will navigate to the post with this map tag.
Search Users
TopIn the Users tag, you could search users by give a keywords and the website will search username, first name and last name with the given keywords. (For computer view, please click "Users" at the top navigation link. For mobile view, please click the image with two people at the top navigation link.)
You could also specify username only so that the website will only search the username. Besides, after search, you could send message to that user, do friend management or view her/his friends.
